Una coppia in Texas ha notato un piccolo animale nascosto sotto un portico, ed erano curiosi di sapere di chi si potesse trattare. Lo hanno osservato per un po’ e subito si sono resi conto che il piccoletto non doveva stare da quelle parti o uscire da solo. Per questo motivo hanno deciso di chiedere aiuto. “Sospettavano che fosse un topolino domestico e temevano per la sua sicurezza, sapendo che non sarebbe potuto sopravvivere a lungo là fuori con il caldo, i gatti selvatici e i coyote”, scrive Central Texas Rat Rescue su TikTok.

A very kind couple reached out to us about a loose domestic rat on their patio they’d seen off and on for a couple weeks. They suspected he was a domestic rat, and feared for his safety, knowing he couldn’t survive out there long with the heat and feral cats and coyotes. They were giving him food and water and even planned to try and live trap him for us (why can’t all people be so awesome?) Fortunately, we drove out this morning and I was able to grab him! Poor guy is thin and has some wounds, but seems a very sweet boy. He will receive medical treatment and be in quarantine until he is healthy enough for neutering and adoption. Jean-Luc is incredibly lucky. Unfortunately it is pretty common for people to dump small animals like rats, mice, rabbits, and guinea pigs outside when they don’t want them, despite the fact they are not equipped to survive, and most die horrible deaths. Loose rats especially are not often lucky enough to be found by kind people who both know they need help and care enough to help them. I soccorritori si sono diretti a casa della coppia per provare a recuperare il topolino, in seguito chiamato Jean-Luc. Era necessario farlo uscire dal nascondiglio. I soccorritori sono stati in grado di stabilire che si trattava di un topolino domestico e non di quelli selvatici o di città. All’inizio, il piccolo era un po’ nervoso e si sentiva più sicuro nella piccola casa improvvisata che aveva creato. Alla fine, però, i soccorritori lo hanno convinto.

La coppia ha osservato come Jean-Luc annusasse le mani dei soccorritori, che gli hanno dato il tempo di rilassarsi e di abituarsi. Dopo un po’, sono riusciti ad attirarlo fuori dal nascondiglio e recuperarlo per portarlo in salvo. Il burro di arachidi non è in genere un trattamento consigliato, ma torna utile per attirare questi piccoli animali. In questo caso, ha funzionato perfettamente.
